Island Lake Lodge

The wedding weekend will be hosted at Island Lake Lodge in Fernie, BC. This is a brief overview to get you excited but you're also welcome to check out their website for more detailed info!

Getting there

If you're flying, there are a few options:

Fly to Calgary and drive approximately 3-4 hrs (depending on city traffic)
Fly to Cranbrook and drive approximately 1 hr
Fly to Kalispell, Montana and drive approximately 2 hrs

We can help to connect people who are flying and wanting to share a rental vehicle with someone! There are more vehicle rental options in Calgary than in Cranbrook. There are also bus and reservable private taxi shuttle options if you're travelling with a group. See the Tourism Fernie site for info.

For reference, the drive to Fernie is 10.5 hours from Vancouver, or 3.5 hours from Calgary.

Once you arrive in Fernie, it's about 20-25 minutes to get to the lodge property.

Once you arrive at the lodge, you shouldn't need a vehicle unless you want to go into town.

Lodging

We will have access to 3 wonderful lodges on the property. Rooms will be allocated after everyone RSVPs and we have a final headcount. See here for a virtual tour of the property!

The Tamarack Lodge has eight guest rooms and amazing views of the surrounding mountains. These rooms have spacious ensuite bathrooms with a soaker tub, shower, and a combination of queen and king beds. This lodge also includes a dining room on the main floor, and a spa down below.

The Cedar Lodge has eight rooms including spacious ensuite bathrooms with a soaker tub, shower, one king or two queen beds, and a deck off each room.

The Red Eagle Lodge has 10 rooms with ensuite bathrooms and the lodge features a large deck off the main and second levels. There are living rooms on both the upper and main floor.

Other venue info

Island Lake Lodge has a bar and restaurant on the property. Your room booking includes all meals. On the Saturday, we will be covering alcohol during cocktail hour and reception. If you are staying in-house, you will have a bar tab that you can charge drinks to during your stay. You may settle up with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, debit or cash. There is no ATM on site.

We have the whole lodge property reserved the for the weekend. During downtime, you are free to explore the hiking trails, hang out on the patios, or book a spa treatment.

The outdoor ceremony site is a 5-10-minute walk down to the lake from the lodge area. The path is a trail with tree roots and uneven surfaces. A shuttle for guests who cannot walk to and from the ceremony site departs the Tamarack Lodge approximately 45 minutes before the ceremony. There are 6 passenger seats on this shuttle so please let the Wedding Couple know if you would like to be on it. We encourage guests to walk to the ceremony and to bring flat shoes for this (carry your high heels down, if you like).

We will also have lawn games! However, alcohol must be consumed on the patios or inside the restaurant buildings. Because the venue has a restaurant liquor license, any alcohol brought in from off-site can only be consumed within your guest room.

All guests receive 15% off all spa bookings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the wedding weekend you will be attending. All appointments must be booked prior to arrival at the lodge. Please call 250-423-3700 to book.

Ice is available by bringing your in-room ice bucket to the Tamarack front desk.

Canoes are available to rent from the Tamarack front desk. A waiver must be completed before use.

Unfortunately, the venue is unable to accommodate early check-ins.
